AI is becoming a core part of how we develop software. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who combines deep backend engineering knowledge with practical experience using AI, and wants to help shape both our products and our way of building them.

The role

You will join a strong team of experienced senior engineers. We are looking for someone who wants to become an active part of that team: bring your own technical perspective, work through difficult problems together, learn from each other, and share responsibility for the results. You will have peers who challenge your thinking and welcome the same from you.

You will own technical work from understanding the problem through design, implementation, deployment, and operation. Working closely with product, design, and colleagues across the business, you will help decide what to build, challenge assumptions, and make thoughtful technical trade-offs.

Your primary focus will be backend software engineering: designing and building services, APIs, integrations, and data flows that are reliable and maintainable. Cloud infrastructure is an important part of running that software well. You will contribute to deployment, infrastructure, and observability as part of owning your services in production.

You will also help improve how we use AI in engineering: turning clear specifications and useful context into effective agent workflows, and sharing approaches that make the whole team more capable.

You remain accountable for the code you ship: understanding the design, checking assumptions, reviewing changes, and verifying that the system behaves as intended.

Technology Stack 

The main technologies you will work with are:

• Python for backend services, automation, and data processing.

• SQL and systems that handle large volumes of data.

• Kotlin and Spring Boot for part of our backend.

• AWS and infrastructure as code, including AWS CDK.

We value depth in backend software engineering and the ability to learn across languages and tools. Prior Kotlin experience is a plus.

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and business logic, from initial requirements through production support.

• Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to understand needs and turn them into clear technical plans and useful software.

• Design dependable APIs, integrations, and data flows, considering performance, security, failure handling, and maintainability.

• Contribute to the cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and monitoring needed to run your services reliably.

• Use AI coding tools and agents effectively: define the work, provide relevant context, guide implementation, and validate the outcome.

• Improve the team's AI development workflows, sharing useful practices and making successful approaches repeatable.

• Improve automated testing, code review, monitoring, and delivery practices so we can move quickly with confidence.

• Work closely with fellow senior engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and pairing; share knowledge, challenge ideas constructively, and help each other improve.

We are looking for someone with:

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a senior software engineering role.

• Strong hands-on backend engineering experience, with depth in Python or another relevant language and the ability to become productive in our stack.

• Experience designing and evolving production backend systems, including APIs, data models, database interactions, and integrations.

• Practical familiarity with cloud infrastructure and automated deployments, and the ability to investigate how your services behave in production.

• Strong engineering fundamentals: sound system design, readable code, meaningful tests, and a methodical approach to debugging. You can reason about and change the code yourself, including code produced by an agent.

• Practical experience using AI coding tools and agents in real development work. You can explain how you structure specifications and context, verify generated changes, and judge when to change approach.

• The ability to take ownership of an ambiguous problem, make sensible trade-offs, and follow through on delivery and production quality.

• Clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues, and a collaborative approach: you contribute your own judgment, listen to other perspectives, and take shared responsibility for the team's work.

It is a plus if you have:

• Experience building internal tooling or automation that improves development, testing, or debugging.

• Experience improving a team's AI development workflows, including reusable instructions, context, and automated checks.

• Experience with Python or event-driven backend systems.

• Strong SQL skills and experience with high-volume data processing or distributed systems.

• Deeper experience with AWS, infrastructure as code, or deployment automation.

• Familiarity with Kotlin/Spring Boot.

• Experience in adtech, performance marketing, or other domains where tracking accuracy and reliability matter.

• Ownership of meaningful technical work on products the business relies on every day.

• A close partnership with product and design, with room to influence what we build and how we build it.

• A strong team of senior engineering peers to build alongside, learn from, and contribute to, with shared ownership and room for your ideas.

• A salary between €5900 and €6800 per month, depending on your skills and experience
